WHAT TO EXPECT
Pediatric in-toe walking and toe walking are two of the most common pediatric chief complaints. However, they are both commonly underdiagnosed, undertreated, and mis-understood conditions! They are also commonly written off as either “idiopathic” (no cause identified) or conditions that will be “outgrown”. Describing these conditions as either of these however is not only extremely wrong, but if left untreated can lead to lifelong orthopedic conditions due to bodily compensation.
Being able to effectively identify the cause of both and treat as early as possible is paramount for a successful outcome.
In this webinar Dr. DeCaro will teach you how to properly identify the cause of both (never accepting the diagnosis of idiopathic or they will “outgrow it”) and provide essential advice for treating both. He will also discuss the use of pre-fabricated littleSTEPS and littleSTEPS gait plates and why they are often an effective component for treatment.
Louis J. DeCaro, DPM is a board-certified podiatrist and podiatric surgeon. He is the owner of DeCaro Total Foot Care Center where he has been in practice for 20 years.
Dr. DeCaro specializes in pediatric podiatry/biomechanics and education and is an international lecturer on these topics; and he is the President of the American College of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics.
He is the Director of the Adult & Pediatric Gait Labs Biomechanics Clinic, which takes place biweekly at his West Hatfield office. He also started a weekly Lower Extremity Podo-Orthopedic clinic in 2004 to better serve special needs children with podopediatric concerns.
Dr. DeCaro is board certified with the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry. He has also been recognized as one of Podiatry Management Magazine’s Top 150 Most Influential Podiatrists in America.
